Boho Valentine

I made this card for the sketch challenge on SCS, SC215. It's an easy sketch and great for using up some scraps of paper.
This one is for my daughter, Chelsea.
You can't see it in the picture but the heart image was popped up using foam dots. I used my mini bow dazzler to make the bow and added a heart charm to the bow.
One more day until vacation time! 2 more cards to make before I leave! That means double trouble tomorrow. I'll probably use this sketch again!
Thanks for looking!
Have a wonderful day!
Smiles :)

A Birthday Wish

It's been so long since I last posted, or created anything! It really felt good to go down into my dungeon and make this card.
This is for my daughter, Chelsea who is 19 years old today! I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday!
Last night we went out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We had a Greek feast! very yummy, and definitely not on Weight Watchers! lol
As per tradition in our house I am making a special birthday dinner tonight. Chelsea has requested Ziti ala Vodka and Salmon with BBQ sauce. I baked a cake, omg, what a disaster, and it wouldn't be a true celebration without me making a card for her.
This is what i came up with. I felt like I was in card making 101 after being away from it for so long! I hope you like it.

Recipe:
Stamps...MFT, You take the cake
ink...momento black, SU markers
paper...SU close to cocoa, taken with teal, regal rose, basic white, SU retired DP
embellishments...Heidi Swapp Large Flower & flower ghost shape, flower button by Jolene, stickles, and pop ups
technique...sponging and paper piecing

My son John is really doing very well. He had plastic surgery so he should have minimal scaring on his face. We still don't have a police report. Apparently it takes up to twelve weeks to get a police report from the LAPD! We do know that the driver who hit him was arrested for DUI and there were no fatalities in the accident for which we are very thankful! I'll be going out to California next month to spend some time with him. I'll be there for St Patricks day again! However, I am not traveling with a suitcase full of corn beef this time!
I'm getting ready to go on vacation this coming Saturday. We leave on Valentines Day. Hopefully I'll be able to get some Valentines Day cards made before we leave.
Have a great day!
Smiles :)

Another Belated Birthday

I am scheduling this post so that my sister does not see the card that I made for her before she receives it in the mail!
I made this card for my sister, Marlene. Her birthday was on Monday, Dec 1st! She was here at my house for an extended period of time over Thanksgiving and I couldn't get away from her to get into my room to make a card for her! However, she did manage to get into my stuff and find the time to color! LOL! I on the other hand was too busy cooking for 8 people everyday, and cleaning up after all of them.
The image is from MFT, and the sketch is SC204
It's so easy this time of year to do everything for the upcoming holidays. I tried to keep away from the red, green and any other Xmas colors that came to mind! lol I ended up with a color combo that I love, yellow and blue together!
Thanks for stopping in, and have a great weekend.
I'm going to spend my weekend getting all my Christmas cards ready to send out. The tree and the house need to be decorated which means endless boxes of stuff coming out of the attic! It's not easy work for an old lady like me! lol

Thanks a Latte

People who know me know I really love my coffee. But I am very particular about the coffee I drink. I know that everyone loves Dunkin Donuts, but for me it's all about Starbucks...and not just any Starbucks, it has to be French Roast...OMG, my mouth is watering thinking about it! LOL!
I have not been able to find the French Roast anywhere...I usually have my sister pick it up for me in the 2 1/2 pound bags but BJ's hasn't had it at all lately! My SAMS club only has Breakfast Blend and that is just not doing it for me....anyway, getting to the card...while we were playing Mahjongg I mentioned that I have not been able to find my FAVORITE Coffee and my friend Grace she would look for me at Costco. Well they had it and she picked up three bags for me...so I made her this card to thank her...I really need the French Roast fix!
And I figured if I'm really nice to her and show her I appreciate what she did for me, she won't mind going on another French Roast run at a later date!

This is a picture of my new sewing machine.
My sister Marlene bought if for me. We are swapping machines. She is going to take my Janome Sew MIni and I get this great big monster! LOL! It is bigger than the sew mini, and weighs more too, but I can handle it. It also does a few more detailed stiches than the sew mini so that makes me happy! LOL! I like to sew so I can handle this machine. It really does go zoom....and it has a light switch...I so missed that on the mini.
You can see some of the stitching from this machine on the card.

mwah to all!

Nesties are in the house!

Well, I finally broke down and caved in to the nesties craze. One set I ordered from Overstock.com and the other I order from Cutathome.com. Great deals on both!
So I just had to play with my new toys!
I used the MFT sketch for this card. click here for more info.
It's a pretty simple card. I used the stamp from MFT Chill Out. I colored it in using my blender pens and the ink pads. I used a silver gel pen on the faucet and feet of the tub. I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but I used crystal effects on the dots of the tub, the feet and the faucet.
The paper and the ribbon are from SU...Western Sky, Blue Bayou and White.
I embossed the white paper with the Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder (I have been wanting this for a long time!)
Thanks for checking in with me today.

Let's go for a walk

This is a card that I made for the MFT's Who's that Girl Monday challenge on SCS. They asked us to use Gone to the Dogs, but I don't have that set, so I used Let's Go For A walk instead. I still had a pile of the Dashing Dp on my desk so decided to make this a little festive for the Holidays. I used the MS branch punch and made antlers for the big dog!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

***I just realized that for the challenge in addition to using 2 printed papers this should have had 3 buttons on it! I'm not changing it, I like it the way it is! lol***

** I still have some Prima Center Kisses for sale! anyone interested?***

Yummy Cupcakes

I made this card for the MFTWUW04 challenge. The challenge was to paper piece. This cupcake set is just perfect to use for this technique due to the large image. No tiny pieces to cut out.
I used Basid Greys DP called cupcake and choose Barely Banana, riding hood red and pretty in pink to compliment the design. I added some stiching using my Janome Sew Mini to give the paper a finished edge. The cupcake was popped up with dimensionals.
I hand wrote Happy Birthday Cupcake around the image.
Thanks for looking!
I hope you're having a great day!
I'll be back later on this afternoon to announce the blog candy winner!

Scented Geraniums

Geraniums are red, right? Not today. I was in a purple and yellow mood.
I started off by stamping the image on watercolor paper. I stamped the image twice, and watercolored the flowers on each image. Then I cut out selected flowers and used dimensionals to pop them up on top of the image. I used crystal effects on the flowers and then sprinkled some dazzling diamonds on the 3d flowers.
After working on this card I have decided that it is time for me to invest in some nesties! Lots of frustration trying to get the card to look the way I wanted.
Thanks for stopping by!
And I haven't forgotten the blog candy. I really thought that I was going to have so much loot to share from the cruise, but since my sister has decided to keep it all...well I had to figure something else out.
I have placed an order through the Prima company for some lovely embellishments. So if you haven't already left a comment for the blog candy, please click here and leave a comment. I'll be picking a winner by random draw on the 15th!

Combined Challenges

For this card I used MFT Hot Stuff mini set and combined the challenges on SCS for SC200, and MFTWUW03. I was going to attempt incorporating the color challenge into this card, but the thought process was just too much for me today!
The first photo is of the inside of the card.
What a crazy day! I went to my husbands office to pick him up so that we could pick up the new card. As we were leaving one of his clients fell down the steps leaving his office. I found her on the ground in the parking lot crying for help! The poor thing. She is 81 years old and good bless her, she was amazing! I immediately called 911 and an ambulance came a few minutes later. While we were waiting I was holding her hand and rubbing her back. I felt so bad for her! I would have been screaming from the pain, and she wasn't ever whimpering. We later found out that that what appeared to only be a broken ankle was much more. She broke her leg in 3 places and needs to have surgery! Please say a prayer for her!
I picked up the new Escalade today. and it is beautiful. My 17 year old son is going to think that he can practice driving in this, well, he has another thing coming to him! lol
Have a great day, and A Happy Halloween.
Ugghhh....I'm not looking forward to my doorbell ringing all night long, but love seeing the little kids all dressed up!
Thanks for stopping by!

Lady Sings the Blues

I made this card for the MFT, Who's that girl challenge. The challenge was to use the Time for Bubbly set, the colors had to be mostly blue. You also had to use 4 brads and ribbon.
It seems that for the challenges they are using their older released sets, which is perfect for me...I have 6 or 7 of them. It made me take them out and look at them again! LOL! They all need some love and this fits right into my plan of using items that I already have!
About this card...it was fun to make. I paper pieced the bathtub, the mirror frame and the rug. Paper piecing is really not hard to do. All you need is good paper snips to cut out the image that you want to piece on! I stamped the image on white card stock (I found some 110lb cardstock made by Zerox which is working out really well) and then stamped the same image again on the dp and blue bayou card stock. I cut out what I wanted to use on my main image. I water colored the floor and the background on the image, added some rhinestones for the bubbles, brads and some organza ribbon. Did you know that if you use your heat tool on the ribbon it will curl it up a little? Be careful if you try this, it will melt! lol
Have a great day!
Smiles :)

Sunbrella

I started off making a thank you card, really and i just didn't like it after working on it for an hour so into the trash it went. I'll try again tomorrow. so i decided to try something else and work on something that would make me happy. something cheerful and fun... My stack of MFT's is right on my desk and there were several that i ordered that have not seen ink so i took out Rain or Shine.
I'm trying to streatch my brain, so i decided to work on a SCS challenge for this card. this is for Challenge SC157. I've been using DP in most of my projects and really wanted to try to stay away from it today and work on my own background. When i first started stamping i used to love working with the reinkers and alcohol. I went back to my roots! LOL! This technique is called Polished Stone. Do you like it? I just love it! And it's easy...a little messy, but easy. I can be color challenged at times so the most difficult part for me was picking out my colors and combining them. and as you can see, i'm still using my Janome Mini...and i paper pieced her dress to match the background. I tried to paper piece the dogs sweater, but just couldn't make those tiny cuts! lol! I am happy with the outcome. I hope you like it too. Thanks for peeking in!
Recipe:
Technique: Polished Stone - you'll need reinkers, a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol
Cardstock: Cranberry Crisp, Summer Sun, Cameo Coral, glossy white
Stamps: MFT Rain or Shine
Ink: bb, creamy caramel, summer sun, cranberry crisp and gold metallic reinkers
Embellies: Ribbon, raindrops, stickles, prima flowers,
